The Solomon Islands, located in the Oceania region, is an archipelago with nearly 1000 islands. Most of the workforce is engaged in agriculture and fishing. Main agricultural products of the country are cocoa, beans, coconuts, potatoes, palm kernels, rice, vegetables and fruits. The islands have noteworthy deposits of mineral resources including bauxite, phosphates and some gold. Fishing is also an important industry. The export of live dolphins has started again. Tourism also serves as a significant service industry. Main industries of the country are fish (tuna), mining and timber. |
